Born August 29, 1979. Fun fact, same birthday as the legendary Michael Jackson. A good ole boy, half Dominican half Black from Lynchburg, Virginia. Only boy of 4 siblings. Honors graduate with a focus in Marketing and Advertising at Heritage High School. There he played football as a tailback. He also wrestled in the 150 pound weight class. Soccer and chess club were other hobbies as he found a natural love for arts. From age 16 he started studying fitness, various martial arts, interior design, and business management. He attended Radford University and VA Tech with a major in Business Management and minor focus on Interior Design. Scott became a member of the brotherhood and fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi Incorporated.
After "September 11, 2001" attacks he was approached with joining the United States Navy! So he did and became what in called a Personnelman. Handling pay changes, pay entitlements, demotions, promotions, base housing allowances and base pay regarding dependants. After gradution at bootcamp in Great Lakes, Wiscousin he was stationed in Meridian, Mississippi. Training for his role in the U.S Navy. In 2002 he was stationed to a new duty station, PSD Norfolk. In 2003 he was injured and released with a Honorable Discharge. Life after the military was questionable until he decided to start working at a Hampton Inn Hotel right outside the Norfolk Naval Base. He unintentionally started a 20 year career in the hospitality industry of Hampton Roads.
Over the next two decades he worked supervisory level positions at Va Beach Oceanfront, Military Highway Norfolk, Oceanview Norfolk, Hampton Coliseum, Downtown Hampton, Yorktown, and various locations in our city of Newport News. After climbing the corporate ladder he became a popular hotelier in 757. From 2010 to 2023 he was a Director of Sales for many hotel businesses and management companies such as LTD, Chesapeake Hospitality and Shantinath LLC to name a few. During that time he started competing professionally in combat sports such as the UFC. He had a stage name known as The Weapon X.
After a worldwind divorce he found himself struggling as a single parent father of two.He continued his hotel career and March 2013, him and his children were in an apartment fire. Another tenant accidentally caught the entire building on fire from mishandling cigarette buds Scott and his two kids lost everything and had to start over. He literally ran into the burning building to save his at the time, 4 year old son and his dog Mendoza! They bounced back and stayed strong. Scott gave up combat sports and started a personal training business on the side. Weapon X Fitness it was called. He also started teaching martial arts and yoga to public school teachers as well as students. In 2017 he was requested by the Virginia Living Museum to participate as a volunteer in their new Dinosaur Trail exhibit. The kids later started calling him Dinoman. After the pandemic things obviously changed and some things never recovered. Dinoman was included. In 2019 Scott met his soulmate and coworker Chiffon Nelms. They worked together at the Comfort Suites Newport News Airport. Scott was the Sales Director and Chiffon was Asst. Executive Housekeeper. After covid hit the small family owned company was forced to downsize.
In 2020 Scott and Chiffon were both furloughed. He continued his personal training business to keep things afloat for their family. He helped people change their lives. One client lost 200 pounds. One client was denied access to enlist in the Army and hired Scott for 6 months until he joined the Hampton Police Academy. During this time he also became a certified nail technician. Scott loves being a jack of all trades but master of none as the saying goes. The happy couple got married October 22nd, 2021. In 2022 a longtime mentor and known public figure head of his, Elizabeth Parker hired him at the Holiday Inn Newport News City Center. It was at this time Scott became an Ambassador for the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce. He became a Board of Directors for the Newport News Hospitality Industry and a member of the Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads.
In 2024 Scott left the hospitality industry to start a new career more involved with the community. Working as a Pest Control Technician.
It was an easy transition from his hotel career being Pest Control is very customer service focussed. Over the course of this past spring; after long days him and his wife would tackle the neighborhoods in central district knocking on doors. Introducing themselves, collecting registered voter signatures and eventually making him a candidate for City Council in this November 2024 election.
